The Tottenham Hotspur database

About Spurs Since 1882

Welcome to Spurs Since 1882, the searchable Tottenham Hotspur database, a site dedicated to the history of Tottenham Hotspur football club.

The first and central part of the site is the Spurs match database. The goal is to provide a comprehensive record of football matches played by Tottenham Hotspur football club, with match descriptions, results and team line-ups, and to provide that information in the most flexible manner possible. You can search for games played by season, competition or opponent, or for games involving specific players or under a specific manager, or any combination of these parameters. In addition to the match record, player and squad appearance records can be generated subject to the search conditions applied. The results of the match record searches can be presented as an interactive graphical list (with popup match info) or analyzed for record summaries or squad and appearance records.

A second main part of the site will be an interactive graphical history of the club. This is a long-term project and will start with a series of interactive timelines with links to historical accounts on the club, the stadium, the players and managers, and other topics, as well as summaries of match records, line-ups, player appearance and squad records. Ultimately, the plan is to integrate these timelines into an interactive graphical providing a comprehensive history of the club.

Sources of data

Many sources were used in compiling the data. The main sources were statistical sections of various Spurs websites, notably MyFootballFacts, Topspurs, MEHSTG and Spurs Oddessy (see the list in Spurs on the Web for links), and Bob Goodwin's authoritative book, Tottenham Hotspurs: The Complete Record. Where there were differences I have used my best judgement in choice of most valid information. In general, Bob Godwin's book is considered definitive.

Corrections and feedback

Every effort has been made to ensure the validity of the data and I have tried to verify the data by cross-referencing match and appearance records of various sources. However, it is inevitable that there are some errors in the historical record and others introduced by my mistakes.

Any corrections and suggestions on improving the site will be welcome. You can contact the webmaster at the following e-mail address: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
